Modus Transportation, Inc. contracts with FedEx Ground to provide vehicles and drivers for pickup and delivery service in certain areas of greater Denver. We are continually creating openings for full-time drivers through expansion of our service area, and we may have additional openings for drivers and driver-helpers during the Christmas peak season.

You will be responsible for picking up a loaded step van or straight truck at the FedEx Ground Terminal in Henderson (near Commerce City), making small package deliveries and pickups to businesses and a few homes in Denver, and then returning the van to the terminal each day, Monday through Friday. 

We do not currently work weekends or holidays however, future expansion into the Home Delivery service may require us to schedule some drivers for Saturday deliveries. We will try to respect the wishes of our current employees if and when that schedule change occurs.

In accordance with our contract, FedEx Ground must approve all drivers before hire by Modus Transportation, Inc., but you will be an employee of Modus Transportation, Inc., not FedEx. FedEx Ground approves drivers based on a minimum age of 21, a clean MVR (no accidents, careless or reckless driving, or excessive other tickets), a clean criminal history (10 years no felonies and no person- or property-related misdemeanors) and a Department of Transportation physical and drug-screen (paid by Modus Management).

Ø                        Permanent, Full-Time

Unlike many companies in this industry, we do not sub-contract. You will be an actual employee with many more benefits than are traditionally offered.  

Ø                        Experience preferred, not required

If you have experience in pickup and delivery for FedEx Ground, FedEx Express, UPS or another company you are much more likely to be hired, and at a higher starting salary. However, we offer paid training for the right person.  

Ø                        Start immediately

    We have immediate positions available, and training programs start about every two weeks. We anticipate adding several additional openings over the next several months.

Ø                       $500/week starting salary

Generally a person with limited experience can expect to start at $500/week after training (two to three weeks). Training periods are paid at $9.09/hour. We provide regular raises based on performance. The best employees have typically received ten percent raises at six and twelve months. Also, we have a performance program that can add up to 10% to your base salary weekly. 

Ø                        Standard week 40 to 50 hours

In this industry a 50 to 60 hour week is standard, but we believe that is too many hours to ask of our employees. We strive to limit your hours to 40 per week, with occasional overtime hours.

Ø                        Overtime

You will be paid for ten hours per week of overtime at time and one-half whether you work it or not as part of your weekly salary. We do this to encourage people to perform efficiently and quickly. If you work more than 50 hours per week you will receive additional overtime pay at one and one-half times your calculated hourly rate.

Ø                        Health insurance

We have a full health/dental/vision plan, which can include your family members. The employee pays one-quarter of the premium cost and the company pays three quarters. You are eligible to receive benefits on the first of the month immediately following the full-time date of hire.

Ø                        Retirement plan

We have a voluntary retirement plan in which the employee contributes as much as they want to a financial institution they specify, and the employer matches all contributions up to 3% of salary. No income tax is paid on either the employee or the employer contributions.

Ø                        Holidays paid

FedEx recognizes six holidays per year, but does not pay Modus Management for these holidays. Nonetheless Modus Management pays our employees for those days (Monday through Friday) when the terminal is closed.  

Ø                        Vacation, Sick Leave

You accrue sick and vacation leave from the first week you work, although we may place limits (up to six months) on how soon you can use the leave. The amount and timing of the leave are negotiable, based on experience and work history. Unused sick leave may be converted to vacation leave in accordance with company policy.

Ø                        Opportunity for advancement

We are a small but growing company that intends to hire at least one supervisor in the delivery business in the next year. Additionally, we have business interests in land use, computer networking, and aviation, and if any of these areas interest you we are willing to train and transfer the appropriate people.
